About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical engineering design, consultation, information, and assistance to internal and external customers under the direct supervision of the Engineering Team Lead or Manager
- May oversee or collaborate with Designers assigned to your work or team
- Review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals
- Perform coordination between civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, operations and field team, and all electrical trades
- Prepare designs, check, and specify power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for photovoltaic (PV), distributive generation (DG), battery energy storage systems (BESS), or medium voltage (MV) systems
- Develop and model short circuits and over current protection device coordination studies
- Assist with the development of feeder schedules, determine cable losses, and model energy production under the supervision of a senior engineer
- Coordinate your work with the project specifications or equipment manufacturers
- Visit job sites to field survey existing electrical conditions under supervision
- Become familiar with engineering analysis programs to analyze loads, lighting levels, and short circuit currents under the supervision of a senior engineer
- Participate in project team meetings.
- Assist and develop skills with drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or equivalent experience
- Ability to learn Engineering Analytic programs for short circuits, over current coordination, and arc flash mitigation programs, e.g., SKM, E-Tap, etc.
- Develop familiarity with codes, and energy efficiency requirements
- Ability to learn and become competent in AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), and Illuminance software.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
