About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Gather relevant personal information from patient records
- Prepare and instruct patients on proper procedures
- Transport portable electrocardiographs to hospital units and administer electrocardiograms to inpatients and outpatients
- Perform stress and nuclear stress tests using a treadmill, observing tracings for abnormalities
- Scan Holter monitors and observe tracings for abnormalities, if applicable
- Place test results in the proper physician reading box for interpretation
- Maintain proper records, data storage, and retrieval
- Keep equipment and the laboratory area clean and orderly
- Notify appropriate personnel when laboratory supplies are needed
- Communicate professionally with laboratory and hospital personnel
- Train hospital staff on EKG processes and equipment
- Attend staff meetings as scheduling permits and review minutes when unable to attend
- Provide age-appropriate care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Follow universal precautions, use personal protective equipment, and comply with infection-control policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)
- High School Diploma (required)
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
- Ability to assess patient-status data and interpret information needed to identify age-specific patient requirements
