Medical Assistant Certified – Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery
Roper St. Francis HealthcareCertified Medical Assistant providing patient care in Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery across multiple locations. Responsible for patient records, vital signs, and clerical duties within the healthcare team.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
- Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
- Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
- Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed
- Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- CMA with 4-5+ years of experience preferred
- Education: High School Degree or GED
- Licensure/Certification: Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
- Experience: One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)
- Skills & Abilities: Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
