About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the long-term technical direction of Roo's frontend platform, including systems, tooling, and architecture powering development across web and mobile
Partner with Product and Design to evolve the design system as a foundational platform
Make the design system easy for engineers, designers, and AI agents to consume through integrations, documentation, tooling, and developer workflows
Lead framework upgrades, React Native modernization, Expo adoption, and shared library evolution
Own migration of legacy components to the v2 design system and provide tooling and documentation for team-led migration
Establish patterns enabling engineers to ship pages and flows quickly from the component library
Improve developer experience through shared tooling, automation, documentation, templates, and workflows
Identify and systematically eliminate friction points that slow builders down

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant experience building production software, including frontend systems
Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals with deep expertise in React and TypeScript
Comfort building frontend experiences, backend services, developer tooling, and platform infrastructure
React Native or mobile experience
Experience working closely with designers and modern design systems
Proficiency with Figma and understanding of scalable frontend architecture
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude
Experience connecting design systems to prototyping tools, AI coding environments, or engineering pipelines
Ability to prioritize work, operate effectively in an engineering organization, and own a technical roadmap
