About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the payroll systems subject matter expert and lead/support payroll system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for employees in multiple US states and Canada.
  • Act as the primary contact for payroll tax matters, including agency notices, tax registrations, state and local tax compliance, unemployment insurance accounts, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations and identify process-improvement opportunities.
  • Lead annual payroll year-end planning, reconciliation, reporting, and completion of year-end activities.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, bank statements, and financial transactions; research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, IT, Audit, and external vendors to maintain accurate, SOX-compliant, efficient payroll operations.
  • Analyze payroll data and processes to identify trends, improve controls, and enhance payroll performance.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience with responsibility for payroll processing and compliance.
  • Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems, including system analysis, integrations, implementations, or enhancements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Preferred: Experience with ADP payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting unionized workforces.
  • Preferred: Experience processing shift differentials, complex pay rules, or manufacturing payroll environments.
