About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex architectural, performance, and data integrity issues
- Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries, database projections, and system configurations
- Own critical, high-severity customer escalations from inception to resolution
- Perform deep-dive post-mortem analyses on catastrophic failures
- Champion the creation of technical documentation and best-practice guides
- Mentor and coach Tier 1 and Tier 2 support engineers
- Collaborate with R&D and Product Management on edge-case bugs and feature enhancements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in a dedicated Enterprise Technical Support or DBA role
- Strong hands-on experience managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Vertica clusters at scale
- Expert-level knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
- Exceptional proficiency in advanced SQL
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Perl)
- Experience troubleshooting Vertica in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts and database security protocols
