About the role

  • Join IT Mainframe Services team to provide z/OS, z/VM & z/Linux infrastructure in support of Rocket’s R&D community
  • Install, customize and maintain mainframe software and manage mainframe hardware
  • Provide technical guidance to R&D community and drive mainframe modernization initiatives
  • Conduct problem determination and root cause analysis for z/OS environments
  • Provide first line of support and participate in scheduled on-call rotations
  • Support over 150 z/OS environments and multiple z/Linux images and VSE
  • Work with a global team of engineers and participate in IBM/ISV beta programs

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of z/OS architecture and RACF
  • Solid background installing and maintaining IBM and ISV mainframe products
  • Experience with root cause analysis and problem determination on z/OS
  • Experience participating in IBM and ISV beta programs
  • Experience with DFSMS, SMPe, ServerPac, PDO, DFDSS, DFHSM, ICF Catalogs, HCD, IODF
  • Experience with REXX, JCL, DASD and Tape management products
  • Experience with Communications Server, SDSF, USS, GTF, IPCS
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage large, multi-discipline technical projects
  • Successful track record of leading technical projects and driving mainframe modernization initiatives
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Security mindset and deep RACF experience
  • Provide first line of support (scheduled on-call) for the mainframe environment
