About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides and manages access to local medical care in the area of operation.
- Provides support to RMI Global Coordination Centre (GCC) in security and receipt of payments.
- Acts as the RMI representative for operational and pastoral requirements of patients.
- Remains available throughout agreed hours of coverage for contact by the RMI GCC.
- Deploys to pre-defined medical facilities to meet and greet RMI patients within 1 hour of notification.
- Works with the GCC to ensure payment methods are agreed with medical facilities.
- Acts as a mediator between medical facility and GCC where applicable.
- Ensures swift access to care for RMI patients and responds to problems pragmatically.
- Provides translation from local dialect to English.
- Manages the welfare of patients through admissions, ensuring comfort and understanding of treatment.
- Establishes working relationships with treating physicians and acquires updates on patient status.
- Provides timely updates to the GCC on the status and proposed plans for the patient.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 2 years experience as a medical healthcare professional in area of operation.
- Bilingual local language & dialect (as per area of operation), and English.
- Experience providing patient advocacy in remote/international areas, preferred.
- Foreign travel experience.
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
- Demonstrated self-discipline.
- Ability to integrate into a cross-cultural social structure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and general computer & technology literacy preferred.
- Valid drivers license for area of operation (preferred).
