About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise clients on complex tax implications, liabilities, and strategies
- Remain current on tax issues, legislative changes, and best practices
- Provide guidance and issue-resolution support across multiple concurrent client engagements
- Serve as interim Tax Leader for clients undergoing organizational change or leadership transitions
- Lead day-to-day tax operations and maintain business continuity during critical periods
- Act as primary tax advisor to executive leadership, finance teams, external auditors, and outside tax service providers
- Oversee federal, state, and local income tax compliance workflows and filing calendars
- Manage external preparer relationships and review tax provisions under ASC 740
- Identify and remediate tax risks and strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
- Assess and redesign tax operating models, processes, and organizational structures
- Evaluate and implement tax technology solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting
- Partner with finance and IT teams to integrate tax requirements into ERP and data initiatives
- Advise on tax implications of M&A, carve-outs, restructurings, and other strategic transactions
- Lead tax due diligence and coordinate with deal teams, legal counsel, and outside advisors
- Manage post-close integration of tax functions, reporting, and compliance obligations
- Rotate across industries and client situations while delivering practical solutions with immediate impact
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field
- 13+ years of progressive corporate tax, public accounting, or tax consulting experience
- Experience serving as a Tax Director, Senior Manager, or tax function leader
- Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 (income tax accounting)
- Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax compliance
- Strong technical knowledge of M&A tax implications
- Strong technical knowledge of tax controls and governance
- Experience supporting private equity-backed companies, carve-outs, or complex corporate transactions preferred
- Comfortable leading client-facing engagements and serving as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, and executive leadership
- Exposure to indirect tax, including Sales & Use and VAT, or tax technology platforms
- Exceptional project management, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, changing environments
- Willingness to travel based on client needs
- CPA preferred
- Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States required in the application
- Must disclose whether future employer sponsorship is needed for U.S. work authorization
