About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct home visits and phone contacts to assess safety and suitability of child’s placement with their caregiver (sponsor) and connect child to community services
  • Ongoing case management with focus on screening and making appropriate referrals to address child’s needs in various domains
  • Provide crisis intervention services directly, or connect family to services for minor’s safety and well-being
  • Submit detailed and thorough documentation in compliance with PASO policies and procedures
  • Apply social work best practices for assessments of child’s progress and services provided
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor around any issues concerning the child’s safety and well-being
  • Participate in ongoing supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology, or other social service field
  • Fluency in Spanish required
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • At least 1 year of experience with child welfare programs
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect families to community services
  • Excellent clinical and crisis intervention skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical assessment and analysis skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, determine priorities, and work independently
  • Ability to do home visits up to 70%
  • Knowledge of and experience working with refugee or immigrant children preferred
  • Cross-cultural or international experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check as well as a CA/N check for every state in which they have resided in the last five years.
