About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Preparing tax technical research including various tax correspondence and memos for estate planning, corporate reorganizations, CRA audits, and other tax transactions
  • Completing complex tax planning calculations for corporate reorganizations and divestitures
  • Preparing complex tax compliance, including tax returns and election forms
  • Providing support for team members on tax related matters for all clients
  • On an ongoing basis, identify opportunities for additional Rise services with existing clients and proactively move the opportunity forward within the firm as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree in an accounting program
  • Designated CPA
  • Completed Year 1 of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course, or currently enrolled in Year 1 of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course is preferred
  • 3+ years of public practice experience, with a minimum of 1 in Canadian private company tax
  • Strong tax compliance background with an understanding of the issues and challenges faced by small-to-medium sized businesses
  • Independent, highly motivated, and a self-starter
  • Multi-tasker and can manage multiple clients simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – and commitment to maintaining an open, transparent dialogue with colleagues and clients
  • Effective relationship-builder – we want our clients and your direct reports to enjoy working with you!
