About the role
- Preparing tax technical research including various tax correspondence and memos for estate planning, corporate reorganizations, CRA audits, and other tax transactions
- Completing complex tax planning calculations for corporate reorganizations and divestitures
- Preparing complex tax compliance, including tax returns and election forms
- Providing support for team members on tax related matters for all clients
- On an ongoing basis, identify opportunities for additional Rise services with existing clients and proactively move the opportunity forward within the firm as required
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in an accounting program
- Designated CPA
- Completed Year 1 of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course, or currently enrolled in Year 1 of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course is preferred
- 3+ years of public practice experience, with a minimum of 1 in Canadian private company tax
- Strong tax compliance background with an understanding of the issues and challenges faced by small-to-medium sized businesses
- Independent, highly motivated, and a self-starter
- Multi-tasker and can manage multiple clients simultaneously
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – and commitment to maintaining an open, transparent dialogue with colleagues and clients
