The Global Logistics Manager (GLM) will help provide services to our domestic and international businesses, moving commodities and freight globally. The GLM will be in charge of obtaining the most competitive rates for freight, domestic and international, securing prices and procuring freight service. They will be working internally with the Donor Engagement (DE) and Global Impact (GI) departments, customers, and carriers in booking pickups and deliveries. The GLM will also perform daily logistical operations; manage logistics vendor relationships; work in a team environment and respond and adapt quickly to changing priorities and situations.
60% Logistics Management of meals and medical supplies:
Manage all logistics and transportation arrangements of meals and gifts-in-kind for designated distribution partners, tracking containers from warehouse pickup to customs clearance at destination
Manage logistics and transportation arrangements for country to country shipments of raw ingredients, equipment, meals and gifts-in-kind as requested
Collaborate with other teams for crisis response logistics and transportation
Manage scheduling and monitoring shipments of approved aid from international event venues and global locations to approved impact partners
Prepare, validate, and submit export documentation for export and customs clearance; and prepare and send invoices to impact partners
Keep accurate documentation of all transactions, expenses, and records of receivables, imports & exports, item & lot numbers by updating Salesforce, Google Docs, and other platforms with appropriate information
Maintain compliance of US exportation and importation requirements including but not limited to Schedule B/HTS Code, and FDA Prior Notice.
Maintain compliance of country-specific import requirements to create and apply for time sensitive documentation.
Prepare, validate, and submit export documentation for export and customs clearance. Prepare and send invoices to in-kind partners. (Included – drafting all documents for medical exportation compliance per country requirements)
Upon shipment arrival, perform documentation audits to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
Request and negotiate freight rates with vendors to meet time and logistical requirements and budgets
Manage logistical relationships with partners. Provide support as needed
Travel to partners as part of the monitoring and evaluation process and relationship maintenance
Schedule and manage the documentation/customs paperwork and transportation of Rise Against Hunger supplies, ingredients, and equipment to and from international meal packaging events
30% Planning, forecasting and inventory management for container shipments:
Collaborating with other departments in planning of shipments to approved in-kind partners
Maintain transportation forecast and Salesforce records
Prepare documents needed for loading – BOL, packing list, dock receipt
Coordinate and schedule the transportation of gift-in-kind products such as medicine, protein, clothing, and hygienic materials from donor to loading warehouse
Track and monitor inventory of all in-kind product
10% Food and Medical Supply Safety and Quality:
Set and implement standards, procedures and processes for food safety throughout the organization
Review and revise food safety policies and plans, including Intentional Adulteration Plan, as needed
Manage quality assurance of meals and medical products once in-country, including tampered product process
Management of Food Safety Recall Process involving finished goods
Initiate Finished Goods Infestation Process
Perform other duties as assigned or become necessary by supervisor.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university or college in Supply Chain Management, Management, or equivalent and/or training; or a combination of experience and education
2-4 years of related experience
Knowledge of country-specific import requirements in order to create and apply for time sensitive documentation
Knowledge of US exportation and importation requirements including but not limited to Schedule B/HTS Codes and FDA Prior Notice
Working knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite functionality
Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in written and verbal methods
Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills with proven ability to work on short deadlines
Experience with international and domestic transportation industry; particularly ocean, air, and ground freight
Knowledge and understanding in Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Customs and other import/export regulations
Understand and interpret foreign import requirements needed for customs clearance
Ability to work on weekends and holidays as needed in time sensitive situations
Must be able to travel internationally
