About the role
- Lead and optimize end-to-end payroll cycle management, encompassing bi-weekly payroll processing, tax compliance, and benefits administration while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across all employee populations
- Implement process improvement strategies to streamline payroll operations, including evaluating and implementing new HRIS systems, leading cross-functional initiatives with HR and Finance teams, and building automated workflows to enhance reporting capabilities, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making support
- Manage payroll tax compliance and filings across multiple jurisdictions, including quarterly and year-end reporting, and coordinating with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely submissions
- Oversee garnishment processing, benefits deductions, and equity compensation administration, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with all applicable regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (CPP or FPC certification strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, ideally within a fast-paced startup and/or healthcare technology industry with the ability to adapt to new and evolving payroll requirements
- Experience and proficiency with ADP and other HRIS / Benefits systems
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and methodical problem-solving approach, combined with comprehensive knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and benefits administration
- Strong communication skills with ability to respond to employee inquiries and resolve complex payroll issues.
