About the role
- Owns multiple components or highly complex components within a software product or solution.
- Solves complex software engineering problems using sound judgment within company standards, policies, and practices.
- Ensures design and code development incorporate modern technologies and efficient use of resources.
- Makes recommendations on priorities, design changes, enhancements, and issue resolution.
- Defines, evaluates, and implements software alternatives to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for complex product issues related to mainframe software.
- Provides leadership to project teams and leads major planning activities to ensure timely, cost-effective development.
- Accountable for delivering team or departmental results, often involving cross-functional collaboration.
- Drives decisions that have a direct impact on customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Provides ongoing technical guidance and leadership for software development initiatives.
- Executes established software development processes and proposes improvements when appropriate.
- Participates in setting objectives that align with evolving business needs.
- Contributes to organizational goals; failure to deliver may result in significant business impact requiring additional resources.
- Ensures accurate and comprehensive project documentation is maintained.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Deep professional experience in software development, system/product design, and integration—ideally within mainframe environments with 5 years of strong Mainframe Development experience.
- BS degree in Engineering or related field required.
- Strong, hands-on experience with Mainframe development (IBM i / IBM z) and Assembler is highly preferred.
