About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain analytical frameworks used to evaluate battery dispatch strategies, revenue stacking, and degradation-aware optimization
  • Develop valuation models for batteries, solar + storage, and behind-the-meter DER configurations across multiple market scenarios
  • Analyze battery sizing, siting, and dispatch strategies using nodal pricing, congestion, ancillary services, and customer load patterns
  • Support expansion of VPP valuation and program economics models into additional ISOs/RTOs and utility programs
  • Incorporate ancillary service programs, demand response structures, and market settlement logic into valuation tooling
  • Design and maintain software and data solutions supporting portfolio valuation, load forecasting, P&L analytics, and risk reporting
  • Contribute to the development of Rhythm’s in-house valuation and portfolio analytics platforms
  • Build distributed data pipelines and modeling workflows using Databricks, PySpark, and Delta Lake
  • Develop automated validation and monitoring frameworks for valuation and reporting data pipelines
  • Build reporting layers and dashboards for exposure tracking, VPP performance, portfolio economics, and financial risk metrics
  • Support integrations with ISO market feeds, telemetry systems, and other external data sources
  • Partner with VPP, Finance, Product, Portfolio Management, and Credit teams to scope and deliver analytical systems and enhancements
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Software Engineering teams to improve CI/CD, deployment, and production reliability practices
  • Help establish scalable analytics engineering standards and best practices across the organization
  • Take ownership of key initiatives and provide technical leadership on high-impact analytical projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Quantitative Analytics, or related technical roles
  • 2+ years of experience in retail or wholesale energy markets, ideally supporting Portfolio Management, Risk Analytics, DER, or VPP economics
  • Strong Python skills, including experience with pandas, numpy, PySpark, or similar analytical frameworks
  • Experience working with distributed data systems such as Spark, Databricks, Delta Lake, or Hive
  • Experience building ETL workflows, orchestration systems, and analytical data models
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, portfolio valuation, and risk management concepts
  • Experience building valuation, forecasting, P&L, or asset performance models
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, Git, and production-quality analytics workflows
