Key responsibilities & impact

Design technical solutions that are reliable, fault-tolerant, scalable, and performant
Write quality, readable, testable, and maintainable software, often with AI assistance
Participate in code reviews and design sessions
Launch new features and services with high-quality customer experiences
Work with product managers and the engineering team to size work and understand build options
Foster a culture of security and adopt security best practices throughout the codebase

Requirements

What you’ll need

5-10 years of experience building production-grade, high-volume software systems
Professional coding experience with Ruby on Rails, Python, or JavaScript/React
Willingness to recommend and adopt new technologies as necessary
Full-stack experience or willingness and ability to learn across the stack
Experience working with AI tools to accelerate engineering work, such as Claude Code or ChatGPT Codex
Experience with server-side concepts including microservices, caching, performance, monitoring, and scalability
Experience with modern databases such as Postgres and appropriate application-side data modeling
Experience with modern source control tools, including Git and GitHub
Understanding of CI/CD build and deployment tools, such as GitHub Actions or Semaphore
Familiarity with AWS cloud technologies, such as ECS, S3, and RDS
Willingness to become a domain subject matter expert in a highly regulated industry
Enthusiasm, curiosity, and flexibility to thrive in a startup atmosphere of constant change and growth
Ability to use AI tools and creativity to tackle new challenges
Preferred/plus: experience in Fintech, Insurance, Banking, or similar financial services
Preferred/plus: prior professional experience in Ruby/Ruby on Rails
Preferred/plus: exposure to data pipeline tooling such as Fivetran or dbt
Preferred/plus: early/mid-stage startup experience
