About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead corporate finance, FP&A, and strategic finance functions
  • Advise the leadership team and Board of Directors on strategic initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and operational modeling
  • Drive capital planning, equity, debt, and risk capital transactions, and support M&A through analysis and due diligence
  • Build and maintain periodic financial plans aligned with company growth and expansion
  • Provide financial and operational metrics and analytics to investors, the Board, employees, and management
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports, including P&L, cash flow, and actuals versus budget
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to measure and improve operational effectiveness, risk and reinsurance metrics, partnership opportunities, and product ROI
  • Own the Tax function and various Treasury-related items
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and financial statement reporting
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures and improve accounting methodology and processes
  • Own the external auditor relationship and annual audit process, including coordination with tax preparers and technical accounting resources
  • Ensure effective accounting and internal controls, including accounting software and supporting databases
  • Recruit, direct, and organize a high-performing Finance & Accounting team
  • Support executive leadership and the Board with special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of combined finance and accounting experience with proven career progression
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in financial management and/or accounting operations in a growth company
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business, finance, or a related field
  • CPA required
  • Experience recruiting, building, and managing high-performing finance and/or accounting teams
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, financial markets, economic principles, and banking
  • Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels of an organization
  • Excellent analytical skills for budgeting and forecasting, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to present complex information and distill financial results into concise commentary
  • Organized, able to prioritize and multitask efficiently, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with insurance agencies, carrier finances, or growth/startup technology companies is a plus
  • MBA or equivalent education is a plus but not required
  • Experience with Tableau, NetSuite, Cube, and SQL is a plus but not required
