About the role

  • Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual reports with a focus on BREIT SEC reporting, including, but not limited to: Financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Equity Statement, Statement of Cash Flows)
  • Footnote preparation
  • Debt schedules
  • Ground lease schedule
  • Intangible amortization schedules
  • Coordinate preparation and support for quarterly Statement of Cash flows involving reaching out to Blackstone real estate portfolio companies and asset class teams to determine detailed drivers for movements in accounts such as other assets and other liabilities
  • Coordinate report updates and reviews with managers and accountants on the BREIT team
  • Confirm that BREIT SEC reporting is in accordance with GAAP, ensuring results properly reflect the company’s financial position
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements, including footnote disclosures, and supporting schedules
  • Assist with technical accounting questions as encountered during quarterly and annual reporting cycle
  • Document standard operating procedures for SEC BREIT reporting
  • Partner with Revantage leadership to streamline reporting and provide greater insight to operations
  • Accountable to Blackstone and its real estate portfolio company’s satisfaction with the accounting team’s performance, responsiveness, and interactions
  • Lead initiatives to ensure smooth business partner experience across the team
  • Respond to business partner inquiries and commit to deliverables by leveraging resources across the team
  • Become day-to-day go-to person for Revantage business partners, including portfolio company, joint venture partners, and Blackstone
  • Partner with other team members to identify and drive external relationships with the team’s key contacts and stakeholders, including third-party accounting departments and third-party operators’ accounting teams
  • Assist BREIT teams with fund level reporting as-needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field
  • Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software and databases (Workday, Yardi)
  • Proficient understanding of financial models, corporate financials, and regulatory market
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Preferred: CPA certification
  • Preferred: Real estate industry experience
