About the role

  • Perform system studies including protective device coordination and analyses (short circuit, arc flash, load flows, ampacity, grounding, harmonic, and power quality).
  • Design collection systems, including cable routing and cable sizing.
  • Create equipment specifications and apply knowledge of PV solar modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transformers, cable management systems, and balance-of-system (BOS).
  • Write reports and make presentations describing studies performed, solutions developed, and value obtained.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
  • Manage time efficiently across multiple projects and coordinate with clients and project managers on expectations.
  • Work under guidance of senior staff; work on or lead small projects or portions of larger projects in preparation of drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments; receive direction and thorough review on unconventional or complex problems.
  • Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines; perform additional duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • EIT Certificate is desirable.
  • 2+ years of experience in power systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of power systems analysis software (ETAP, CDEGS, CYMCAP, PSS/E, PSLF, or similar) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, transmission, solar PV systems or energy storage systems is desirable.
  • Experience working with different vendor-provided dynamic models preferred.
  • Experience applying Python or similar programming languages for process automation is desirable.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision.
