About the role

  • RLF Wildfire program supports policy change and increased public funding for wildfire resilience across the Western U.S.
  • Provide programmatic support across wildfire resilience initiatives including grantmaking, coalition-building, policy development, advocacy, and capacity-building
  • Oversee and improve program management systems, budgets, tracking, and reporting
  • Organize virtual meetings, annual in-person retreats, and larger convenings of grantees and collaborators
  • Create dockets and materials for presentations (reports, maps, tables, graphs, database reports, and PowerPoint)
  • Coordinate internal and external written program materials and support strategic planning
  • Manage a portfolio of grants and contracts; refine grantmaking strategies and conduct due diligence
  • Facilitate and coordinate the grant reporting process and synthesize grantee reports for funders
  • Perform policy research and analysis, represent RLF at convenings, and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Expertise (3+ years) in western wildfire resilience, conservation, climate change, or related fields
  • Comfortable and eager to work within a complex policy, stakeholder, and political space
  • Commitment and ability to quickly develop expertise on land management and community risk aspects of wildfire resilience
  • Commitment to and interest in learning policy development, advocacy, and implementation skills; public policy and funding experience a plus
  • Strong work ethic, good judgement, attention to detail, and a consistent commitment to thoroughness and quality
  • Positive attitude and commitment to building a positive work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to represent and speak on behalf of RLF to policymakers, donors, grantees, and consultants
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills; ability to develop timelines and track milestones
  • Creative and flexible self-starter who can anticipate and respond to rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate meetings; experience planning and executing larger meetings (75+) a plus
  • Experience with administering or managing grants or contracts a plus
  • Aptitude for creating and implementing programmatic processes; approach work with process improvement and systems thinking
  • Ability to identify solutions to complex problems and track programmatic progress and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience managing and organizing extensive documentation; outstanding editing and writing skills
  • Occasional domestic travel across the Western U.S.
