About the role
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with all departments and levels throughout RESA Power
- Be a payroll contact and trusted advisor for managers and employees
- Ensure all employee data is up to date, timecards are submitted timely, validate and provide manual adjustments to the payroll
- Review and approval of the weekly and bi-weekly payrolls
- Ensure third party payroll provider meets all SLAs and expectations of RESA Power
- Responsible for completing Union Reporting for all Unions across the company
- Completes certified payrolls in an accurate and timely manner
- Provides determinations for prevailing wage calculations, when applicable
- Interacts with HR, Operations, Accounting, and other key departments to coordinate, process and ensure accuracy of payroll changes, i.e., employee pay and status change requests
- Responsible for integrating acquired organizations into payroll system in partnership with finance, HR and outsourced payroll vendor
- Responsible for annual commission plan coordination and plan communication
- Coordinate with finance and third-party payroll provider the payment of commission programs
- Properly and accurately processes and uploads files such as incentives, bonuses, annual merit increases and all other special payment entries
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements and labor laws
- Reviews current payroll, benefits and tax procedures and partners with HR Team to recommend and implement process improvements to establish best practices
- Champions corporate payroll initiatives as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation/accounting experience preferred
- UKG payroll processing experience preferred
- Multi-State payroll processing experience
- California payroll processing preferred
- Canadian payroll knowledge preferred
- Certified payroll and union payroll processing experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working in a fast-paced, change-driven environment
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, in particular Excel and Word (including mail mergers)
- Excellent business partnering and interpersonal skills
- Able to establish rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to develop and interpret data to make sound decisions as related to Payroll function; Proven continuous improvement experience
- Ability to run the payroll process and make sound independent decisions to ensure employees are paid timely and accurately
- Flexible and innovative; the ideal candidate brings a positive, high-energy attitude with strong customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to tailor communication style with all levels in the organization
- Action oriented with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Able to work in a team environment.
