About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide testing services to mitigate software defects and improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of Republic Services’ software solutions
- Lead end-to-end quality for Web, Mobile, and other Application Portfolios through test automation
- Architect automated test strategies and frameworks
- Create, test, and plan manual and automated test frameworks for complex web and mobile applications
- Coach and mentor Software Test Engineers in automated testing
- Review product specifications and develop test strategies, plans, and architectures
- Lead formal reviews of test plans, designs, and requirements with cross-functional teams
- Evaluate, research, develop, and recommend testing tools and technologies
- Develop, debug, and maintain test automation for applications and services
- Build and maintain automated end-to-end integration test frameworks across applications, devices, and platforms
- Build automation and test coverage tools supporting Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
- Test interfaces between systems and applications, including web services and APIs
- Track and prioritize defects throughout product releases and lifecycles
- Use quality control tools and metrics to identify defects and recommend resolutions
- Plan, estimate, schedule, and execute application testing with Agile and IT teams
- Establish, organize, document, and execute testing deliverables, plans, strategies, and scenarios
- Ensure traceability of test cases to project requirements
- Coordinate and support user-acceptance test plans
- Report and resolve complex issues with Agile and IT teams
- Perform functional, system, regression, load, performance, integration, and manual testing as needed
- Collaborate with Software Test Engineers and Developers
- Record and report testing metrics
- Follow and update test documentation standards
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 years of software test experience with test automation focused on web, mobile, database, or web services
- Experience with software automation testing methodologies, including regression, functional, unit, integration, coverage, performance, and load testing
- Experience testing applications integrating with other systems through RESTful APIs
- Experience with test management tools such as qTest, ALM, TFS, or similar
- Experience with API testing frameworks such as Karate, Gatling, JMeter, or Postman
- Some experience with load and performance testing
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and services such as Amazon AWS, Azure, Heroku, Perfecto Mobile, and SauceLabs
- Experience reviewing and providing feedback to team members during pull requests
- Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience in Agile software development methodology
- Experience using Rally, Jira, TFS, or ServiceNow
- Strong expertise in JavaScript, C#, TypeScript, or other applicable languages
- Advanced understanding of open-source web frameworks such as Angular, Bootstrap, Node.js, and Express
- Advanced understanding of web application testing tools such as Selenium, Jasmine, Protractor, Cucumber, Appium, or Cypress
- Understanding of source control tools such as Git or Subversion
- Candidates must be available to work during Arizona business hours (Mountain Standard Time) and attend meetings and collaborate during those hours
