About the role
- Global responsibility for managing the commodity group
- Sponsor and purchasing expert for the relevant manufacturing processes: turning, milling and gear machining (Subject Matter Expert)
- Continuous analysis of international procurement markets to identify new suppliers, processes and methods
- Implementation of sustainable cost optimizations while ensuring quality and supply security
- Identification, qualification and further development of suppliers, and the establishment and maintenance of a high-performance preferred supplier portfolio
- Development and implementation of a global commodity group strategy in close cooperation with cross-functional, international teams
- Execution of global tenders, benchmark analyses and international contract negotiations
- Definition and management of objectives and budgets for the commodity group, including ensuring target achievement
- Close collaboration with supplier quality and central logistics to continuously improve performance and product quality
- Establishment and implementation of robust risk and crisis management for the commodity group
Requirements
- Completed technical or business degree, e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience in strategic procurement, ideally in a mechanical engineering environment
- Very good technical understanding as well as strong analytical and strategic skills
- Experience in leading international teams and in managing change processes
- Assertiveness, confident negotiation skills and a solution-oriented approach to conflict resolution
- Intercultural competence and enjoyment of working in a global environment
- Willingness to undertake regular domestic and international business travel
- Fluent written and spoken English; additional foreign languages are an advantage
