About the role
- Lead and grow a team of engineers responsible for platform capabilities and critical customer experiences that support customer expansion and scale
- Own a significant portion of the platform and user experience, contributing to areas such as:
- - APIs and integrations ecosystem
- - Identity and access management (IAM), roles, and permissions
- - Compliance and enterprise readiness features
- - CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and operational tooling
- Define and evolve the systems and workflows that enable customers to:
- - Integrate Render into their development and operational workflows
- - Manage teams, permissions, and environments securely
- - Deploy and operate services reliably at scale
- Build and scale foundational systems with a focus on reliability, extensibility, security, and usability
- Partner closely with Product and Design to align roadmap with customer and platform needs
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration across the platform
- Make and guide key architectural decisions for long-term platform evolution
- Balance long-term platform investments with iterative improvements to customer-facing workflows
- Foster a culture of ownership, quality, and operational excellence
- Hire and develop engineers as the team grows
Requirements
- Proven track record of leading teams building customer-facing product experiences in complex technical domains
- Strong technical background with the ability to guide the design of scalable, reliable product systems and workflows
- Experience building products on top of underlying platform capabilities such as CI/CD, IAM, compliance, APIs, or deployment systems
- Experience managing and developing engineers, including hiring and performance management
- Ability to operate in ambiguous, cross-functional environments and bring clarity to complex problem spaces
- Experience partnering closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams
- Strong product instincts and the ability to translate technical capabilities into intuitive customer experiences
- Clear ability to connect engineering investments to customer adoption, usability, and business impact.
