About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Advise clients on termination, resignation, transfer, employment contracts, and redundancy processes while ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
  • Lead client and external employee meetings, including workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation and settlement negotiations, and termination outcome discussions.
  • Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations while navigating stakeholders with competing interests.
  • Coordinate with payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, trade unions, and other stakeholders on offboarding activities and audits.
  • Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents while maintaining accurate, confidential employee records.
  • Process offboarding in Remote’s internal HRIS platform in collaboration with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance, and other teams.
  • Provide informal escalation support, expertise, mentoring, and guidance to junior team members.
  • Provide first-level Employee Relations guidance and help clients navigate complex workplace scenarios.
  • Assess workplace concerns, identify facts and applicable regulations, and recommend appropriate paths forward.
  • Guide clients on progressive discipline, documentation requirements, and difficult workplace situations.
  • Track employee relations cases and coordinate timely follow-up.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for offboarding and first-level employee relations matters.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, product development, and improved customer and employee experiences.
  • Determine methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments and adapt complex techniques to achieve results.
  • Report to the Manager Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies and employee lifecycle exposure.
  • Proven experience independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, sensitivity, and legal compliance.
  • Experience providing HR advice on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline approaches, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments and analyze complex HR issues.
  • Ability to research issues, translate findings into usable team resources, and provide practical recommendations.
  • Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to independently lead difficult conversations toward positive outcomes while maintaining professionalism and strict confidentiality.
  • Business-level (advanced) written and spoken English proficiency.
  • Aptitude for process innovation, optimization, automation, and best-practice development.
  • Strong operational efficiency, record-keeping, and data-integrity awareness.
  • Tech-savvy and able to collaborate asynchronously using various tools and adapt to evolving systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously in an international, fast-paced, asynchronous, remote environment while balancing competing priorities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, accountable, and able to inspire others.
  • Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law are a plus, not required.
