About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform complex research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line
Provide direct input to project plans, schedules, and development methodology for cross-functional software products
Perform software design across multiple systems
Mentor junior software engineers and less-senior software developers
Interface with technical personnel and team members to finalize requirements
Write and review detailed specifications for complex system components
Complete complex bug fixes and resolve technical issues
Translate complex product requirements into software designs
Implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews
Collaborate with stakeholders in Agile, Waterfall, and other development environments
Train entry-level software engineers as directed by department management
Keep abreast of new technology developments
Design and work with complex data models
Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of Software Engineering experience
BS in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience required
Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
Strong proficiency with data manipulation language and optimization techniques
Strong understanding of normalized and dimensional data modeling principles
Strong knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems
Expertise in development languages and technologies including Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .Net
Strong research skills
Strong knowledge of industry best practices in development
Knowledge of applicable tool sets
Ability to interface competently with technical personnel and team members to finalize requirements
Ability to work with internal and external technology resources
Knowledge of test-driven development
Ability to write and review detailed specifications for complex system components
Ability to complete complex bug fixes
Good oral and written communication skills
