About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery performance, and lifecycle considerations
- Partner with Engineering during NPI to identify and onboard suppliers early, supporting component selection and design-for-supply-chain decisions
- Review BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate sourcing and identify supply risks (e.g., lead times, obsolescence, single-source components)
- Lead RFQs and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms aligned with product and lifecycle requirements
- Procure materials for prototype builds, validation, and early production, ensuring on-time delivery to meet project milestones
- Monitor supplier performance and manage issues related to quality, delivery, and non-conformances, including corrective actions
- Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of pricing, lead times, and terms
- Collaborate with Planning to support forecasts, production needs, and inventory risk management during product launches
- Support engineering changes, supplier transitions, and lifecycle planning, including mitigation of component obsolescence
- Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and supplier performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- Completed post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, including sourcing electronic or technical components
- The ability to interpret BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications to support engineering and manufacturing requirements
- An understanding of electronic components, supply constraints, lifecycle risks, and supplier-related challenges
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate supplier proposals and make recommendations
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including performing analysis, and organizing information efficiently
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
