About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set technical direction on load-bearing decisions for frontier AI products, unblock teams, and raise design and review standards
Deploy onto the company’s hardest problems and ship rapidly
Define agentic workflows, context engineering, and evaluation practices for engineering teams
Make autonomous agents trustworthy in production and turn incident patterns into systemic improvements
Partner with product, design, and customer teams to prioritize work and ship impactful outcomes
Interview, mentor, and level up other engineers
Build and manage AI agents and products using frontier models
Own product areas and customer problems end-to-end
Prototype quickly, validate with customers, iterate, and ship continuously

Requirements

What you’ll need

Staff-level AI-native engineering experience
Deep AI expertise and experience using coding agents in daily workflows
Ability to decompose problems, orchestrate build-run loops, and improve evaluation and review quality
Product-owner mindset focused on customer outcomes
Deep technical expertise in backend engineering, APIs, and distributed systems
Strong judgment on load-bearing technical decisions
Experience improving teams beyond one’s own and setting adopted engineering standards
Ability to ship continuously while balancing pace and quality
Serious approach to evaluations, on-call, and root-cause fixes
Comfort with ambiguity and working in a small, fast-moving team
Experience or ability to quickly learn technologies including React, Vue.js, TypeScript, Express.js, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS, Vercel, Terraform, Kubernetes, Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex
Must be able to work onsite at the Sydney office 3 days a week
Position must be based in Sydney, Australia
Engineers relocating from overseas to Australia may be sponsored
