About the role
- Manage loan processing/closing process from loan approval through booking and funding for SBA 7(a), Express, and 504 loans
- Work directly with and lead coordination of SBA client borrowers, SBA Specialists, Assistants, internal staff, closing attorney firms, and third parties
- Collect, review, and approve required documents; perform searches and prepare flood review packages
- Oversee collateral perfection and confirm satisfaction of equity requirements
- Resolve issues that arise during the closing process
- Review approved loan packages to ensure required components for documentation
- Manage complex transactions with high autonomy and SBA documentation expertise
- Determine documentation requirements based on SBA SOP and Regions Credit Policy
- Create and maintain closing checklists; monitor Closing Team portfolio and peer reviews
- Train and mentor junior team members
- Set up third party engagements (attorneys, appraisers, etc.) and submit applications through SBA systems (ETran, SBA One)
- Prepare and coordinate preparation of loan and legal documents; ensure post-closing booking, funding, and title searches
- Monitor loan packages to identify and mitigate risks and maintain compliance with SBA SOP
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) years of SBA closing experience and knowledge of SBA loan program requirements or equivalent work experience
- Advanced commercial credit knowledge including loan closing, legal documentation, construction financing, and exceptions
- Expertise in reviewing insurance, title work, surveys, collateral, lien filings, appraisals, construction due diligence, and environmental reports
- Experience working with commercial sales associates, underwriters, paralenders, insurance firms, and attorneys
- Expertise in use of computers, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with commercial loan systems
- Advanced knowledge of SBA's SOP requirements and regulations (preferred)
- Specialized training in title, real estate, government programs (SBA), and specialized lending programs (preferred)
- Experience with nCino and/or related Salesforce platforms (preferred)
- Experience with SBA systems (ETran, SBA One, TSOFT) (preferred)
- Experience with LaserPro (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree or certification as a paralegal (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight time constraints
