About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead management of data as a corporate asset to generate company value and enable appropriate risk management
- Partner with Business Units, Risk Management, and Internal Audit to develop, promote, and enforce data management standards and best practices
- Manage matrixed data steward teams across multiple business units or functional areas
- Partner with GDO data councils to manage and govern data
- Coach and guide GDOs and senior leaders on managing data risks while delivering value
- Define, communicate, and implement data management roadmaps with GDOs
- Drive data management automation by directing teams to design, develop, and implement software solutions
- Prioritize needs and lead the data management portion of data product development
- Partner with data scientists using data and business domain expertise
- Develop business requirements and lead implementation of data quality, metadata management, data catalog, and integration platforms
- Assist management with Matters Requiring Attention and regulatory reporting related to the Fed and other external agencies
- Leverage emerging technologies to improve efficiency, pilot new data management capabilities, and scale successful pilots
- Participate in build-versus-buy decisions and vendor selection
- Help leadership create success criteria and measurement approaches for data management and governance
- Act as the company’s thought and execution leader for data management and governance
- Ensure compliance with risk management programs, regulations, and cybersecurity practices; support process improvements and disciplined change management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business analytics and ten (10) years of experience in banking or systems management with extensive experience interfacing with business stakeholders, or High School Diploma or GED and fourteen (14) years of experience in banking or systems management with extensive experience interfacing with business stakeholders
- Five (5) years of leading and managing teams (directly or in a matrixed environment)
- Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance
- Executive level communication and partnership with senior leadership across multiple divisions in the company
- Progressive experience in core data management disciplines like data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and master data management
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Track record of driving data management automation and technology modernization
- Must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science or analytics preferred
- Business unit and functional domain expertise focused on banking preferred
