About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain quota linen supply levels for all carts supplying resident home areas/units
  • Deliver carts to each resident home area/unit
  • Follow infection control standards according to MOHLTC standards
  • Remove soiled laundry from chutes/carts and deliver it to the main laundry for processing
  • Sort laundry according to policy and indicated wash formulas
  • Complete laundry log sheets each shift and submit them for monthly reports
  • Wash, dry, fold, and rack residents' personal clothing according to policy
  • Label resident clothing and deliver it within forty-eight hours
  • Maintain equipment and immediately report faulty equipment
  • Wash walls, air vents, light fixtures, windows, and ledges within the laundry area as required
  • Sweep the floor daily
  • Report health and safety hazards
  • Maintain good relationships with residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors
  • Perform laundry duties in accordance with centre policies, legislated standards, code of conduct, and Regional Values
  • Provide person-centered care and excellent customer service to residents and families

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Grade 10 or equivalent education is required
  • Experience in laundry and housekeeping
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with residents, staff, suppliers, visitors, and volunteers
  • Physically able to perform all delegated duties
  • Availability and willingness to work a variety of shifts throughout the week
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check required prior to hire
  • TB Skin Testing required prior to hire
