About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create and run various data management and financial management reports (including forecasting) according to the agreed service level with external clients using SQL queries.
- Manage external client’s stormwater billing data within Peel Region’s billing software through the creation of quality assurance reports via SQL and Excel.
- Provide financial analysis and modeling for various reporting components of the stormwater billing.
- Oversee and monitor the interface process for stormwater billing data updates between Peel Region and external clients.
- Analyze and interpret detailed reports and complex data and develop recommendations or actions.
- Analyze various aspects of stormwater billing and make recommendations to management on streamlining processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate any system(s) testing when stormwater data is impacted.
- Engage in extensive problem-solving tasks including utilizing advanced research techniques, extensive consultations with subject matter experts, employing independent and sound judgment.
- Collaborate with internal partners to support program requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in Finance, Data Management or Computer Science related discipline with 5 years of experience in a related environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Ability to conduct independent research and analysis by applying knowledge of business analysis and process improvement techniques.
- Proficient understanding of SQL query language and database management to develop various reports meeting client’s requirements.
- Ability to co-ordinate processes, consolidate and summarize information from a variety of sources and make recommendations for synergies.
- Excellent knowledge of financial/program management principles and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and able to identify and respond quickly to emerging issues.
- A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted).
