About the role
- Work closely with Vice President, Global Taxes and Tax Directors to process improve and automate current processes, including U.S. income tax compliance, U.S. indirect tax compliance, tax provision and transfer pricing.
- Work closely with Tax Directors to provide quantitative analysis and tax modeling of tax planning strategies or initiatives.
- Provide tax support to federal tax reporting, U.S. and non-U.S. tax controversy, and other Global Tax matters.
- Supporting the cross-functional team that manages efforts pertaining to third-party corporate acquisitions and integrations by helping develop tax structures, coordinate tax due diligence performed by external advisors, drafting the tax provisions of contracts, and planning for the integration of acquisitions.
- Partner effectively with cross-function teams within Accounting, Treasury, and Legal related to non-U.S. cash repatriation efforts.
- Work closely with International Tax Director and Domestic Tax Director to manage global and U.S. tax compliance processes while reviewing material computations, forms and schedules within the returns.
- Engage in business partnership activities with the Vice President, Global Tax and Tax Directors to aid in tax aspects of strategic business transactions.
- Work with the international tax team to ensure that all transactions affecting the US-International area are correctly and timely reflected in tax accounting and compliance.
- Ensure that technical positions pertaining to tax planning transactions that affect financial reporting and tax compliance are communicated to the tax provision team and appropriately documented for audit.
- Identify tax matters that involve support of uncertain tax positions and issues indicating need for remeasurement reserves or releases of existing reserves.
Requirements
- 12 -15 years of international/large corporate tax experience, including significant leadership experience at a director level.
- A combination of Big Four public accounting, law firm, and manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- CPA or JD (juris doctor) preferred, with an LLM or Masters a plus.
- Strong tax technical knowledge in the areas of international tax, M&A, and transfer pricing.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing international tax strategies, including working with the business to ensure planning strategies are executed.
- M&A experience, including due diligence and subsequent integration.
- Experience in financial reporting and US GAAP accounting principles related to international tax matters, including an understanding of how international planning impacts the effective tax rate.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to “translate” complex concepts and calculations to cross-functional team.
- Ability to work independently and willingness to “roll-up sleeves”, with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional tax research and writing skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to apply a “continuous process improvement” mindset to all tax functions.
- Working knowledge of various tax reporting and technology systems is preferred (i.e., Hyperion, OneStream, CorpTax, etc.).
