About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and manage large-scale infrastructure and platform services across public cloud, private cloud, and datacenter environments
- Automate cloud infrastructure using auto scaling, load balancing, Python, Go, and monitoring and alerting solutions
- Design and develop Red Hat OpenShift offerings using emerging industry standards
- Build and support standardized CI/CD platform components with OpenShift Pipelines, Tekton, and GitLab
- Apply Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices with ArgoCD
- Break down complex engineering efforts into deliverable chunks with partner teams
- Design and develop Kubernetes operators, webhooks, and CLI tools
- Implement and maintain intelligent infrastructure and application monitoring
- Ensure production environments operate according to established procedures and best practices
- Lead escalation support for high-severity and critical platform-impacting events
- Provide feedback on bugs and feature improvements to Red Hat Product Engineering teams
- Design software tests and lead peer reviews
- Mentor peers through knowledge sharing and collaboration
- Participate in on-call support
- Drive incident response and lead blameless postmortems
- Work within a small agile team to develop SRE methodologies and improve operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience operating production services on Kubernetes/OpenShift
- 3+ years of programming experience in Python and Go
- 2+ years of experience using cloud providers and technologies such as Google Cloud, Azure, and Amazon
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and Linux
- AWS experience
- Experience with GitOps workflows for infrastructure or application configuration
- Strong Linux systems administration knowledge; RHEL/Fedora preferred
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/TLS, and LDAP authentication protocols
- Comfort with incident response and on-call responsibilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while keeping the team informed
- Knowledge of SRE principles, including SLOs, error budgets, and toil measurement
- Contributions to open-source projects considered a plus
- Experience with Operator SDK or building Kubernetes operators considered a plus
- Must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship
- Must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business
