About the role
- Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection criteria, and control documentation per AS9100 and AS9145
- Support APQP activities including risk assessments, process flow diagrams, control plans, FMEAs, and PPAP submissions
- Ensure product and process compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements
- Interface with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to clarify and enforce quality requirements
- Define and execute validation/verification test plans for aerospace hardware and components
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to design, quality, and reliability requirements
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA / 8D methodology)
- Perform supplier audits and assessments aligned with AS9100/AS9145 and review/approve supplier PPAP and process validation packages
- Support implementation of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and analyze quality data to reduce defects and improve yields
- Champion initiatives for risk reduction and product reliability improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field)
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience in the aerospace industry
- Strong knowledge of AS9100D standards and experience with AS9145 (APQP/PPAP) methodologies
- Proficiency in GD&T, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and managing corrective actions (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
- Strong communication skills to interface with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- This position may require a security clearance; to obtain clearance, employees must show proof of US Citizenship
- Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent certification
- Preferred: Knowledge of MIL-Standards, FAA regulations and NADCAP requirements
- Preferred: Experience with advanced inspection methods (CMM, non-destructive testing, etc.)
- Preferred: Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Preferred: Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated aerospace environment
