About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build robust, secure, and scalable systems across the Ruby on Rails and Vue.js stack, owning work from API design and data modeling through rich front-end experiences
Contribute to architecture and design discussions for key platform initiatives
Establish and follow sound engineering patterns
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing
Improve backend and frontend performance
Raise standards for code quality, testing, security, and observability
Partner with Product, Design, and Customer Success to translate business problems into technical solutions with measurable outcomes
Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery
Contribute ideas on integrating valuable AI capabilities into the product
Work in an iterative, fast-paced Agile environment, shipping frequently and adapting quickly
Resolve production incidents and contribute to post-incident reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful full-stack scope
Solid experience with Ruby on Rails, including ActiveRecord, background job processing, API design, and service-oriented patterns
Strong Javascript proficiency, including SPA architecture, component design, state management, and front-end performance
Track record of owning and delivering complex features or projects end-to-end
Strong RESTful API design experience, including versioning, authentication, and third-party integrations
Solid database fundamentals, particularly MySQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization
Ability to participate in technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions
Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers and contributing to a culture of technical excellence
Familiarity with marketing or customer engagement platforms — campaign management, personalization engines, A/B testing, or equivalent — is a plus
Good communication skills: able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with agile development methodologies and working within cross-functional product teams
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and interest in evaluating where AI/ML capabilities can be integrated into product features
Experience with Go (Golang), Vue.js, and/or Node.js
Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) or building AI-powered product features
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as embeddings, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or fine-tuning
AWS experience, including deploying and scaling cloud-based applications
Hands-on experience with OpenSearch for search or analytics
Use of Redis for caching, session management, or background jobs
Exposure to Kafka or similar messaging systems in high-throughput environments
Familiarity with Docker for local development or production deployment
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
Exposure to GDPR, CCPA, or similar data privacy regulations
Background in B2B SaaS products or high-volume transaction systems
