About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own Automation Initiatives: Design, build, and ship internal automation tools and AI-powered workflows that reduce manual toil across the organization.
- Tool Integration: Connect AI systems with internal platforms (Slack, Jira, GitHub, Salesforce, etc.) using APIs, webhooks, and integration platforms (e.g., n8n).
- Prompt & Context Engineering: Design, test, and iterate on prompts and context strategies for large language models to power reliable internal applications and assistants.
- Engineering Standards: Write maintainable, well-documented code and contribute to code reviews and team engineering practices.
- Reliability: Monitor automation performance, respond to failures, and continuously improve solutions based on feedback and usage.
- Mentorship: Help train and level up other engineers on AI tooling, prompt and context engineering techniques, and automation best practices.
- End-User Support: Provide technical support and training for employees in a macOS environment, troubleshooting hardware and software issues with a high sense of urgency.
- System Administration: Configure and deploy end-user systems via MDM (Kandji/Iru) and manage identity access via Okta.
- Onboarding: Assist with new hire account setup and IT onboarding.
- Documentation: Write clear internal technical documentation and easy-to-follow guides for end users.
- Apply Recurly's Security & Compliance standards across all systems and automations you build.
- Implement access governance principles — least privilege, RBAC, and proper audit trails — in any tooling you create or manage.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience: 5+ years in a software engineering, IT engineering, or AI/automation-focused role — ideally with a mix of both.
- Engineering Depth: Strong proficiency in Python (required); familiarity with Bash or JavaScript a plus.
- AI & Automation: Hands-on experience building automations with LLMs (Claude, GPT, Gemini, or similar), including prompt engineering, context engineering, and API integrations.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, and MDM tooling (e.g., Kandji/Iru). You don't need to be a pure IT admin, but you know your way around these systems.
- Integration Skills: Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, and integration platforms.
- Communication: You can explain technical work to non-technical stakeholders and translate business problems into engineering solutions.
- Ownership Mindset: You take problems to resolution independently and know when to ask for help.
