About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- You take responsibility for the technical development, stability and performance of our Shopify stores.
- You work closely with the performance marketing and brand teams and translate growth hypotheses into technical solutions — from A/B tests and landing pages to conversion-optimized funnels.
- You think in metrics: you understand how pagespeed, UX and funnel logic affect conversion rate, AOV (average order value) and customer lifetime value — and you prioritize your work accordingly.
- You proactively deliver new features and keep themes and apps at a state-of-the-art level.
- You build Shopify apps — including integrations with third-party systems — and ensure their integration into existing Shopify stores.
- You support our team with technical SEO and ensure a performant, search-engine-friendly foundation.
- You keep up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies, continuously learn and apply new tools and practices to steadily improve our web presence.
Requirements
What you’ll need- You have at least 2 years of experience as a developer in a DTC or eCommerce company — ideally within an owner-managed multi-brand setup on Shopify Plus.
- You have experience with in-house eCommerce teams and have worked collaboratively on growth initiatives, not only through agency or freelance projects.
- You possess solid knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, React and CSS/PostCSS as well as Shopify Plus & app development (front- and backend).
- You are comfortable working with Shopify CLI, Liquid, the Theme Editor (schema/settings) and Shopify Theme Sync.
- You have experience developing backend functionality in Node.js, Ruby on Rails or similar technologies.
- You are proficient with GitHub.
- You have excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- You speak German at a native level and have very good English skills.
- You are based in the DACH region.
- You are self-directed, disciplined and work in a goal-oriented manner.
- You are motivated, reliable and bring a high level of loyalty and responsibility, especially when handling code.
- You understand that good code in eCommerce is not an end in itself — it drives revenue, UX and brand perception.
- You like to challenge the status quo, are open to change and bring new ideas to continuously improve our processes and products.
Benefits
Comp & perks- Flexible scheduling and location-independent work (remote within the DACH region).
- Regular team events and our legendary on-sites twice a year (requires minor travel availability).
- A collegial atmosphere with flat hierarchies and short decision-making paths.
- A learning budget that you can use freely.
- A comprehensive benefits program including employee discounts, company pension plan, bike leasing and childcare subsidy.
- Challenging projects with significant entrepreneurial freedom that you will drive forward independently and with passion.
- No micromanagement—lots of freedom to shape your role.
