About the role
- Produce multiple stories a day focused on US sports for Mirror US, Express US, Irish Star & Liverpool.com
- Chase exclusives and original pieces and use social media to share and aggregate stories
- Break news and get snaps live within minutes with fast, clean copy and sharp judgment
- Join virtual newsroom and collaborate with team of sports reporters in UK & US
- Bring ideas that shape daily agenda and help grow audience
- Operate independently from home base as dependable presence on remote desk
- Work Monday to Friday 7am-3pm GMT, 1 in 2 weekend shifts, flexibility for last minute changes due to major sporting events
- Report to US Sports Editor and Deputies
Requirements
- Must be based in & have the right to work in the United Kingdom
- Expert knowledge of US sports, ranging from national to college and high school levels
- Solid understanding of all sports
- Ability to work efficiently and produce multiple articles daily while maintaining accuracy and standards
- Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver breaking news quickly
- Keen ability to identify newsworthy stories and produce exclusives and original content
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays
- Possibility of attending events or games as needed
- Affinity for data, willingness to track and analyse audience numbers
- Self-starter attitude with a proactive approach
