Key responsibilities & impact

Provides advice and counsel to functional and business partners to assist in the management of legal and reputational risk involving employment-related issues.
Provides efficient and effective delivery of legal services to all platforms.
Manages litigation for employment law disputes by identifying and assessing risk.
Manages the cost and performance of external counsel.
Ensures timely updating of all matters in accordance with RBC Law Group procedures.
Provides legal support and advice to functional and business partners with respect to legislative developments.

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of experience with an in-house legal department and/or law firm.
Law degree from accredited law school and actively licensed with the California State Bar.
Demonstrated knowledge in employment law, strong legal skills and sound legal judgment.
Enterprise mindset to understand global issues and operate in a global business.
Ability to build effective relationships with internal partners, regulators, and external counsel.
Strong problem-solving, communication and decision-making skills.
Understanding of a highly regulated industry and the complexity of decision making in a highly regulated environment.
