Overseeing RBC’s compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws
Conduct data and privacy risk reviews for new and changed products and services, third party engagements, technology implementations, business initiatives across Canada, Caribbean and the US regions
Advising on data and privacy design requirements and identifying and mitigating risk exposures
Evaluate data and privacy related impact such as collection, usage, consent, quality, lineage, retention, access controls, and regulatory requirements
Identify, document and track data and privacy risks and recommend actions (i.e. control activities), reporting on the risk position as required
Initiate and own risk mitigation methodologies required to prudently manage risk exposures applicable to PB&CB
Provide expertise and guidance on data and privacy risk considerations, including AI, for major change management initiatives and process changes
Develop partnerships with first and second-line stakeholders, including compliance, global privacy, law group, risk and product teams
Develop and facilitate data and privacy training to improve employee awareness
Drive a strong data and privacy culture by advocating for privacy by design and integration of the RBC data and privacy principles, accountability and sharing of best practice
Requirements
Strong risk management background, with hands-on risk and control assessment experience in data and/or privacy risk
Experience with process mapping, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and critical thinking skills with focus on attention to detail
Strong administrative, documentation, planning, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage competing demands.
Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Aptitude for learning technical systems and applications as applicable to role and primary responsibilities.
Technical knowledge of data protection laws, regulations and practices in Canada, US and Caribbean, experience of applying these in practice (nice-to-have)
Familiarity with RBC Risk taxonomy, and Archer functionality (nice-to-have)
