About the role
- Lead and support a small multidisciplinary team of Product Designers, User Experience Researchers, and Content Designers to deliver high-quality, user-centred digital products.
- Provide day-to-day management and guidance to the design team, supporting good decision-making, professional development, and strong design practice.
- Spend around 20% of your time working hands-on, using your design expertise to collaboratively solve complex problems and lead workshops.
- Work closely with Product Managers and Software Engineers across agile, cross-functional product teams to design, test, and iterate on solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Brand and Design Manager in the Marketing team to ensure a consistent experience across product, brand, and communications.
- Work with Learning teams to ensure products are designed to help young people and educators learn effectively.
- Contribute to shared design principles, patterns, and the design system to support consistency, quality, and accessibility across products.
- Ensure design decisions are informed by appropriate research, data, and testing with real users.
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusive design, embedding the ICO’s Age Appropriate Design Code into everyday design practice.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Product Designer working on digital products, with a strong understanding of user-centred design practice.
- Experience leading and supporting Product Designers and User Experience Researchers, including coaching and day-to-day guidance.
- Experience working closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and other disciplines in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in agile product teams, contributing to iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
- An interest in, or experience of, designing products that support learning or education.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues in Marketing, Learning, and other teams.
- A pragmatic, evidence-informed approach to design, using research, data, and testing to guide decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain design thinking and decisions to a range of audiences.
