About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Cover expectations, responsibilities, and skills needed for entry-level human services professionals.
  • Teach counseling, active listening, professional communication, and ethical issues.
  • Communicate with students and supervise Deans or other University staff related to teaching and learning.
  • Be available for students via phone, email, and for individual appointments as needed.
  • Respond to Dean/University staff regarding performance and student issues in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit appropriate behavior, language, professional communication, demeanor, and dress at all times.
  • Create high levels of student engagement through activities and community building.
  • Attend faculty meetings, events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as agreed upon.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Teaching experience preferred (Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of study)
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, leadership, and peers
  • Excellent written communication and strong verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Online adjuncts will need regular access to a computer with system requirements: Windows XP or greater, Microsoft Office 2010, An internet connection
  • Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology related field, Criminal Justice, Human Services or Social Work
  • Preferred active LSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC, HSBCP, or PsyD certification
  • 3+ years work experience in Counseling or Psychology related field, Criminal Justice System, Human Services or Social Work
