About the role
- Lead and scale Rapid7's AI Center of Excellence, delivering scalable, secure, and impactful AI solutions for real-time security risks
- Build and guide a globally distributed team of Data Scientists, AI Engineers, MLOps Engineers, and Software Engineers
- Develop production-level AI systems spanning models, LLMs, and out-of-the-box LLMs; new agentic AI platform
- Set vision and execution strategy for AI initiatives; align with product, engineering, info security, legal, etc.
- Drive end-to-end AI solution development from research to deployment
- Balance speed with quality and maintain high impact and reliability
- Champion a culture of technical excellence and data-informed decision-making
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, UX, Info Security, Legal; communicate with executives
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing, cross-functional AI or ML teams at scale
- Strong experience driving AI/ML product development from research through to production deployment
- Deep understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle, including model development, MLOps, experimentation, and monitoring
- Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and executive leadership to shape strategy and influence outcomes
- Strong background in managing risk, prioritizing initiatives, and aligning technical work with business goals
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working in cybersecurity or a similarly complex, fast-paced domain is a plus
- Comfort operating in global, matrixed organizations and building teams across geographies
