About the role

Lead and scale Rapid7's AI Center of Excellence, delivering scalable, secure, and impactful AI solutions for real-time security risks
Build and guide a globally distributed team of Data Scientists, AI Engineers, MLOps Engineers, and Software Engineers
Develop production-level AI systems spanning models, LLMs, and out-of-the-box LLMs; new agentic AI platform
Set vision and execution strategy for AI initiatives; align with product, engineering, info security, legal, etc.
Drive end-to-end AI solution development from research to deployment
Balance speed with quality and maintain high impact and reliability
Champion a culture of technical excellence and data-informed decision-making
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, UX, Info Security, Legal; communicate with executives

10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven track record of building and leading high-performing, cross-functional AI or ML teams at scale
Strong experience driving AI/ML product development from research through to production deployment
Deep understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle, including model development, MLOps, experimentation, and monitoring
Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and executive leadership to shape strategy and influence outcomes
Strong background in managing risk, prioritizing initiatives, and aligning technical work with business goals
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences
Experience working in cybersecurity or a similarly complex, fast-paced domain is a plus
Comfort operating in global, matrixed organizations and building teams across geographies
