About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Ramp’s tax products
- Build tax automation across Cards, Bill Pay, Banking, and other financial workflows for domestic and international customers
- Expand Stack, Ramp’s agentic accounting product, into tax by automating CPA workflows including data collection, workpaper preparation, review, filing, and client follow-up
- Understand finance teams, tax leaders, accountants, and CPAs and translate manual workflows into product bets
- Partner with engineering and data science to ship reliable AI systems with evaluation methods, quality metrics, feedback loops, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop controls
- Design explainable, auditable, traceable tax products with graceful degradation and clear user controls
- Translate changing tax rules into scalable product, data, and platform capabilities supporting new geographies, entities, and product lines
- Lead high-velocity execution with engineers and designers through rapid iteration
- Drive cross-functional alignment on dependencies, launch readiness, compliance review, customer communication, and supportability
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA/BS in a technical or analytical field
- Minimum 5 years of product management or adjacent product-building experience
- Strong domain expertise in tax, accounting, or finance
- Practical understanding of how businesses or accounting firms calculate, review, report, and file taxes
- Strong product judgment and first-principles thinking across complex workflows, data products, integrations, and user experiences
- Hands-on experience building AI features, prototypes, or side projects
- Understanding of AI evaluation, retrieval, latency, cost, safety, and accuracy tradeoffs
- Track record of building trusted products with explainability, auditability, graceful degradation, and human controls
- Comfort collaborating in technical environments using Figma and Git
- Familiarity with modern prototyping tools such as Claude Code and Cursor
- Fluency with experimentation and product metrics
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, set direction, make tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills
- Experience building tax calculation, compliance, reporting, or filing products (nice-to-have)
- Familiarity with sales and use tax, VAT/GST, 1099 filing, or other tax domains (nice-to-have)
- Experience building production AI products, including LLM workflows, agents, evaluation systems, or document understanding (nice-to-have)
- Experience with financial products, payments, accounting software, ERPs, or tax-related data integrations (nice-to-have)
- Experience working with CPA firms, tax practices, or finance teams during tax preparation and filing cycles (nice-to-have)
- Experience at a high-growth startup and taking 0→1 products to scaled adoption (nice-to-have)
