About the role
- Provide day-to-day employment legal advice to the Company’s People team, including advice relating to the Company’s internal policies
- Address the Company’s interests in potential claims by individuals or other persons relating to employment-law issues
- Provide legal advice relating to the Company’s potential or threatened claims, as well as any civil actions taken by or against the Company
- Assess potential risks to the Company and provide analyses of options that the Company could consider in settlement discussions
- Administer the standard contracts that the Company has developed for its core areas of operations
- Help the Sales teams with concerns or questions raised from time to time by the Company’s business customers or other counterparties
- Research applicable or potentially relevant areas of law, analyze contracts or other instruments that may grant rights to or impose obligations on the Company, and prepare written analyses to the General Counsel
- Advise on and lead investigations of whistleblower-related matters
- Advise on interpretations of existing or forthcoming contracts, including agreements with service providers
- Collaborate on revisions to the Company’s internal policies and procedures, including policies do not relate to employment-law matters
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution and admitted to state bar in good standing
- Minimum of 4 or more years of experience at a major law firm or corporate legal department
- Minimum of 4 or more years of experience with human resources and employment-law matters, addressing issues arising under federal and state employment laws
- Experience in commercial civil litigation or employment-law litigation
- Experience reviewing existing- and new regulations and advising clients on adapting its operations to comply with employment-law requirements
- Experience handling employment litigation, administrative issues, and arbitration of employment claims before AAA, JAMS, or other arbitration forums
- Experience in reviewing and revising contracts, apart from employment-law matters
- Sharp attention to detail and diligence to accurately explain, orally and in writing, the facts, circumstances, and applicable law that bear on the resolution of a matter
- Experience with counseling clients on whistleblower claims and managing investigations relating to those claims, including reporting requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience in organizing multiple assignments, and ability to work across varying levels of priorities
- Independent, self-starter capable of developing solutions that address the Company’s near- and long-term interests in related matters or areas of law
