Accountant

• Process bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees using the company's payroll software.
• Ensure proper calculation of wages, tax withholdings, deductions, and garnishments, adhering to federal, state, and local tax laws (multi-state experience preferred).
• Prepare payroll journal entries for the General Ledger and reconcile all payroll-related accounts (e.g., taxes, benefits) monthly.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and 1099 preparation and distribution.
• Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding pay and deductions, maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including receiving, coding, verifying, and processing a high volume of vendor invoices and expense reports for payment.
• Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (checks, ACH, wire transfers) ensuring timely and accurate disbursement.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records, including contact information and required documentation (e.g., W-9 forms).
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies in billing or payments.
• Assist with month-end closing activities related to AP, including the preparation of accruals for unbilled invoices.
• Maintain organized and confidential records for both payroll and AP.
• Assist the Controller/Accounting Manager with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies across both functional areas.
