About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, manage, and execute research projects supporting CBC English Services’ strategic goals
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify research needs and develop customized research projects aligned with business objectives
  • Design questionnaires and script surveys
  • Manage sample deployment and oversee project logistics
  • Work with external sample providers and troubleshoot data collection issues
  • Monitor data collection
  • Analyze survey data using statistical software
  • Present results in clear tabular or graphic formats
  • Transform complex datasets into clear, compelling insights
  • Develop and deliver presentations, reports, and dashboards highlighting findings and actionable recommendations
  • Present research findings to stakeholders and contribute to discussions about strategic and decision-making implications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Academic and professional training in social science research
  • Strong background in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in market research, survey design and execution, and data analysis
  • Post-secondary degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Minimum of a B.A. required; an M.A. preferred
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian media landscape, particularly CBC’s role within it
  • Significant experience designing and executing market research projects
  • Strong grasp of current research methodologies
  • Ability to critically evaluate research methods and interpret public opinion studies for journalistic reporting
  • Expertise in survey and questionnaire design, especially in media and audience research
  • Technical proficiency with Qualtrics, Sparq, Alchemer, or SurveyMonkey
  • Strong working knowledge of SPSS, Q, R, Stata, or SAS
  • Competency creating reports and presentations of survey research data
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint or Google Sheets and Slides
  • Experience with Google Looker or Power BI is a strong asset
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, shifting demands, and tight deadlines
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing
