About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise requesters on procurement of goods and services, ensuring compliance with corporate procurement standards and policies
- Perform a needs analysis with customers and determine the appropriate method of supply
- Analyze and process purchase requisitions, create and authorize purchase orders
- Amend related documents as required to reflect cost variances between purchase orders, invoices and acquisition cards
- Research and evaluate new sources of supply
- Conduct assigned vendor selection processes; analyze requirements; prepare RFP; develop evaluation grid; submit requests to vendors
- Analyze responses and make recommendations to requestors
- Negotiate with suppliers on prices of goods or services and other terms and conditions
- Ensure compliance with purchasing terms and conditions and communicate with suppliers or requisitioners
- Ensure transactions and contractual documents take into account various issues, risk elements and reflect commercial agreements
- Fill out appropriate forms and documents, prepare correspondence and reports as required
- Familiarize others with their work by explaining tasks and inform applicant in real time of the progress of projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- College diploma or equivalent
- Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) certification, an asset
- Two years’ experience or more in similar or related positions or activities
- Proven client service skills and experience
- Experience with tendering processes (RFPs) an asset
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Advanced knowledge of SAP
- Strong interpersonal and team-playing skills
- Able to take initiative, be proactive, and work independently
- Proven negotiation skills
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy, high-pressure work environment
- Highly organized and able to meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Open-minded and comfortable adapting to change.
