About the role
- Report to the SVP, Chief Audit Executive
- Manage internal staff and external vendors in a co-sourcing capacity
- Assist in the development of the Internal Audit strategy and performance objectives
- Lead execution of strategy and objectives, managing KPI metrics, automation, skills development, partnerships, and process improvements
- Oversee compliance with Global Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards and internal methodology
- Manage Internal Audit department operations, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews
- Develop relationships with management, Audit Committee, and external vendors
- Participate in management projects and committees
- Develop reporting for the Audit Committee
- Maintain and develop enterprise risk assessment and annual audit plan
- Execute operational, financial, technology, and compliance audits/advisory projects
- Stay abreast of best practices and provide technical advice to the team
- Coordinate department work with external auditors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- 10-15 or more years of prior work experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in internal auditing and/or public accounting
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience managing people
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley 404 or Model Audit Rule
- Considerable knowledge of the IIA Standards and Code of Ethics
- Insurance and IT audit experience
- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and preferred experience with audit software tools, data analytics tools, and GenAI tools
- Excellent project management skills related to data management projects
- Ability to interact and exercise strong judgment in communicating issues internally and to senior management
